Building the Spotify of Food: Our Product North Star
What if your recommendations got smarter every time you went out? That’s what we’re building.
What if your recommendations got smarter every time you went out? That’s what we’re building.
Spotify didn’t just put music online. It learned what you liked and kept getting better at showing you more of it. Every skip, every replay, every playlist told the system something. Over time, it got scarily good.
We’re building that for food. Every meal you rate, every spot you save, every city you explore makes Stupid Good AI a little sharper about your taste. Not just what you eat — when you eat it, who you’re with, what kind of night you’re having.
Why this is hard
Food preference is more contextual than music preference. The ramen you want at midnight alone is different from the ramen you want on a date. The tasting menu is right for a Thursday anniversary and wrong for a Wednesday after work. Context is everything.
That’s the problem we’re solving. A recommendation engine that understands not just what you like, but when you like it and why.
